A Visit from Frogs
Density Activities!
Chemical Reaction!
This young scientist demonstrated for us another combination to create a bubbling reaction!
Ant Farm
So cool to see this ant farm!!! He had just received to a couple of weeks ago!
Reflecting Light
This student brought in his game which uses science concepts to be fun!!!! :)
Oil and Water
What a great way to review density!! This young man took the time to bring in these items and show us again that water and oil do not mix. Then we were able to discuss why!!!
Treasures from FL
During Spring Break these students found some things to show!
Designer!
This student created nunchakas out of sticks, tape and flexitube. Very creative!
New Experiment:
This student demonstrated an experiment that she saw on You-tube!!! So Cool!!!
Science in Toys!
This young man realized that his toy demonstrated a reaction after an action!!!
Megalodon Teeth
Wow, what big teeth you have!!!! This students' dad brought these for him to share with us!
What Happens When...
This fifth grader helped us compare the difference in the reaction when baking soda is mixed with two different liquids. First she mixed soda with vinegar! We knew about that reaction. Then she added it to hot water!!! WOW!
Floating Eggs!
The young man had the idea to get the egg to float. So we added salt to make the water density increase thus enabling the egg to float!
Avocado Seeds:
To bring on Spring, we have suspended two avocado seeds in jars of water. Now we will chart to compare their sprout growth. Check back!
Plants and Mold:
The sixth graders suggested a use of the vinegar water which was left from the hygiene activity. So...our experiment is to use the vinegar water to water one of these coxcomb and Grover Hill water to water the other one! Check back to see pictures in the coming weeks.
We are also trying to grow mold! Miss Sinn brought in pieces of bread, cracker crumbs, banana peel and a slice of tomato. Check back to see pictures of the mold!
